The First Ethnic Sculpture Prize--WALK TOWARD THE BRIGHT
With unique and creative styling, it is a grand and imposing composition, illustrating the scenery of China’s grand mountains and lakes. The artist fully grasps the beauty of the materials with skillful and exquisite knife techniques. The carved flock of sheep stands out sharply with vibrant colors and elegant brushwork. The overall layout is utterly brilliant.
This artwork depicts the towering mountain landscape in China. The flock of sheep running among the mountains conveys the life of Taiwanese residents during the nineties. First is the impoverished environment before the retrocession, like life in a deep valley. Second is the increasing affluence after the retrocession. Third is the misconduct that happened in society after the economic miracle in small Taiwan. The flock of sheep represents how the residents finally awakened after experiencing hardship and worked together, uniting as one to surge towards the light.
